Are you ready to conquer the last frontier? The union’s largest state is also its most beautiful, with thousands of miles of untouched land. Although not many people inhabit this wondrous state, it still has its fair share of small cities! We’re exploring Anchorage, Alaska’s biggest city.

Explore Downtown
You probably don’t think of stirring city life when someone mentions Alaska. Think again. Anchorage is a vibrant city of almost 300,000 people, making it one of the biggest cities north of Vancouver. The downtown is bustling yet compact, so everything is just a short walk away. In only one evening, you can experience the Anchorage Museum, have a blast on the interactive chairs at the Alaska Experience Theater, or enjoy any number of Anchorage’s fabulous restaurants. There is also a bevy of resorts and bed and breakfast establishments in the area.

Explore Nature
There are very few cities in America where you can get close to nature, but everything’s different in Alaska. Anchorage is in close proximity to many national and state parks inhabited by the mighty Alaskan wildlife. You can walk or bike down the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail or catch some of the waves at the Turnagain Arm. If you’re traveling in the colder seasons, stay up a little later than usual to witness the awe-inspiring Aurora Borealis!

Day Trips
If you’re traveling to the great state of Alaska, you don’t want to confine yourself to one location. Take a side trip to Alaska’s other hot destinations for the full experience! Hike up the mighty Denali, the highest peak in the state. Or, go fishing at the quaint coastal city of Homer. If you travel to Fairbanks, you can party on the Riverboat Discovery Cruise or relax in the Chena Hot Springs.
You can also take a boat to Juneau, the state capital. This city is vibrant with Russian culture that dates back to when Russia owned Alaska. You can also go whale watching and bar hop the city’s multiple microbreweries. There are also natural wonders throughout the area, including the Mendenhall Ice Caves, Nugget Falls, and the West Glacier Trail.
