Aspen is perched high in the Rocky Mountains at 8,000 feet. Although it is known as an exceptional ski destination, it is also a favorite summer vacation spot.
The mountains and surrounding area provide unlimited fishing options in gold medal rivers, hiking trails for every skill level, perfectly manicured golf courses, hard and clay court tennis facilities, kayaking down mountain-fed rivers, and many more outdoor activities. Aspen is also known for its summer social scene, including music festivals, museums, local farmers market, and the Theatre Aspen, which features and variety of plays and musicals.

Famed pop-folk musician, John Denver, called Aspen home for much of his life and helped solidify Aspens ranking as a top luxury destination. The John Denver Sanctuary park is a popular spot for those who loved his music or are just seeking a quiet place for meditation.
Depending on your preference for outdoor activities, any season is an excellent time to visit Aspen. Stroll the pedestrian-friendly downtown center where you will find specialty shops providing everything from designer clothing, unique gifts, exceptional home accessories, to plush furs and heirloom antiques. There are over 90 restaurants and bars, an array of art galleries, a host of day spas, and lodging from spacious condos to five-star resorts.

There are many opportunities for tours and day trips in the area. If you are not a fan of heights, consider skipping a trip over Independence Pass. The scenery is stunning, but the narrow two-lane road (that does not have a shoulder or guard rails) has many hairpin turns is not for the faint of heart.
The quickest way to get to Aspen is by plane. The Aspen/Pitkin County Airport serves both commercial and private flights.
