Destination Spotlight – New Zealand

New Zealand is a small, sparsely populated country comprised of two islands. Despite its small size, it is packed full of magnificent natural beauty and very friendly, helpful people. There are a variety of things to do for both the adventure seeker and the laid-back traveler.

In Queenstown, you’ll find a year-round resort with downhill skiing and snowboarding in the winter and zip-lining and white water rafting in the summer months.

Wellington, the capital, is a metropolitan city and home to famed film director, screenwriter & producer Peter Jackson. Many of Mr. Jackson’s companies (Weta Workshop, Weta Productions, Weta Digital and more) are also located in Wellington. These companies were highly involved in movies from the Lord of the Rings to Avatar. A Tour of the Weta Workshop is a must-see.

Another great destination in New Zealand is Fiordland National Park. Located in southwest New Zealand, the park is known for the glacier-carved fiords of Doubtful and Milford. There are many hiking trails to explore, magnificent waterfalls to see or boat tours to be taken.

Give yourself at least a week, preferably two, to explore all that New Zealand has to offer!
