Vail Mountain

The Mountains are calling!

For those of you that enjoy the crisp, clean air of the outdoors in the winter, skiing and snow boarding is a great way to enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer. There are many world-class ski resorts in the United States and Canada with easy access to all levels of skiing and snow boarding ability. In the western section of the United Sates, Colorado offers the highest number of skiable mountains and resorts but challenging slopes also are available in Utah, Wyoming, California, Montana, Idaho and New Mexico. Maine and New York offer skiing to those who prefer the east coast. Alberta and British Columbia offer great options in Canada.

Quaint towns around the resorts offer various other activities for the non-skiers in your group. Nordic (cross country) skiing is a popular attraction in many downhill ski resort towns and you can usually find reasonably priced rentals at the local Nordic ski facility. Family activities such as scenic winter sleigh rides with dinner options, dashing through the snow behind a dog sled and exhilarating runs while screaming down a snow covered hill tubing are generally available as well. Snow mobile tours, snowshoe trails or just sitting by the fireplace with your favorite warm beverage will keep the non-skiing members are your party content. Restaurants, bars, recreations centers, theaters and local shopping are available near many resorts.

As and added benefit many resort towns host themed festivals in the winter months.
